5/30/16 Leaving the heartland! I won't be in Kansas anymore!

Dear familia!
This week has been incredible!! The Spanish Branch has been awesome!
It has only been 2 weeks here but I have loved every minute of it! I
spoke in Spanish during sacrament meeting for the first time. Then I
come to find out they were translating it into English while I was
speaking.. Anyway we received an awesome referral last week and the
family is solid! The mom is bilingual but the dad is solo español and
they have 3 little kids! They came to a church tour and loves the
family aspect and love how their kids can learn while they get away
and learn. I know these are all little things about the church. I'm
sure the root of it is that they know deep inside this is Christ's
church and they feel different here!

We had another experience where we went to El Rodeo, an awesome
Mexican store/restaurant here in little Mexico, Topeka! Outside there
were a couple of People who spoke Spanish selling pots and pans. Of
course we don't really need any but this guy was very persistent
(almost as persistent as a missionary) he didn't understand that we
don't need pots and pans because they're provided and that we don't
have the money for it. He also asked us if we were married and why
not? Anyway we gave him and this other lady a card with our number and
address to the church and invited them to come! Then the next day on
Sunday he actually showed up!! He loved all 3 hours of it. He was on
date to be baptized and everything and we were about to pass him off
to the Elders. Then we got a call Sunday night. So he's at least 50
years old but he ended up asking my companion on a date.. So after she
said that we're missionaries and we can't, he basically said he
wouldn't come to church anymore. So that was an interesting
experience...

So let's get down to the knitty gritty. So I had a passing thought
this week about going home this week, but I didn't dwell on it because
I wanted to finish up my mission here and that was ridiculous because
my mission is everything to me. I just barely got back to Topeka but
in a different branch. I've always wanted to serve In a Spanish branch
and I finally got that opportunity. Plus I was able to see all the
people I served with in the Lake Shawnee ward. Anyway, this week I
haven't been feeling well and it wasn't anything too out of the
ordinary. I normally just push through the pain because I know the
Lord will help me through it. But then again I know I need to do
something more about it. My companion has been companions with someone
who did experience some health problems so she had some perspective on
the situation. On Friday I talked to the nurse and then Sister Bell
and President Bell. Sister Bell gave me the option of going home this
transfer since the next transfer is only 4 weeks instead of 6 because
that's when they are leaving. I told her I'd pray about it and let her
know in the morning. As I prayed that night I asked Heavenly Father a
very specific question if I should go home next week. I felt the
spirit so strong that I did need to go home. I felt so much peace
about it. The next day on Saturday morning I had our district leader
give me a blessing to confirm the decision I already made. We didn't
tell him anything that was going on. The very first thing he said was
to pay attention to the promptings of the spirit. Then after that the
blessing was all about how my mission has been and kept saying phrases
"after your mission". That was such a confirmation that for some
reason the Lord needs me in Utah right now. I know my mission is not
finished. I will always be a missionary and when I take off my name
badge, I will always have Christ's name on my heart.

Thanks so much for all your support! I never knew that leaving the
heartland would be so hard. Kansas is my home away from home. I have
loved serving in Liberal, Guymon (Oklahoma), Ulysses, Abilene and
Topeka. I have loved each of my companions Hermana Adams, Hermana
Kammeyer, Hermana Rosell, Hermana Flygare, Hermana Samani, Sister
Jensen, Sister Manu, Sister Pritchett, and Hermana Goulding! I love my
mission parents President and Mama Bell (who will never replace you
mom and dad). I'm grateful for the opportunity to stretch beyond what
I thought I could handle. I'm grateful for the opportunity to truly
come to know the Savior.

5/23/16 Topeka Spanish Branch

Hey familia!
It has been my first week back in Topeka! It has been so amazing! I
was in Topeka 2 transfers ago so major Dejavu! My new companion is
Sister Goulding "goldie locks". She is super awesome! She's from
California and she has been out for about 9 months. It's super weird
having a Spanish speaking companion again! I'm going to be fluent
pretty soon! :) I'm also getting back into running. She runs about 6
miles every morning. I've been doing about 1...

The Spanish branch is so awesome! It's so small and so I got
unofficially called to play the piano! We've got some members who are
very missionary minded in the branch and they basically help us out a
lot! This Sunday we had an awesome miracle! We got a solid referral
yesterday from the English sisters (there are 9 Sisters In Topeka) and
they found this Spanish Speaking family and the mom is so sweet and
she's the only one who's bilingual and they are on date to be baptized
in a couple of weeks and want to be sealed in the temple! Miracles
happen every single day! It's so great to be a missionary in the (KWM)
Kansas Wichita Mission!!!

I know that every single day we can change through the atonement of
Jesus Christ. Every day we can be happier, we can be more patient,
more loving, more like our savior. If anyone would like to do a 40 day
fast with me, that would be awesome and I'll explain more later. But
basically for 40 days, pick something you want to give up to the
savior or something you want to change! I received a talk about the 40
day fast from a Sister Missionary.  Basically as you do the fast you
need to prayerfully consider what needs to change and then write it
down. You can make a plan of how your going to change and then pray
for strength to overcome temptation and strength to press forward!!
I'm so excited to hear how y'all have changed through the atonement!

I'd love to hear back from whoever is reading this! I love you all so
much! I'm so grateful for each one of you, you have impacted my life
so much!

"If our lives and our faith are centered upon Jesus Christ and his

5/16/16 Back in Topeka!

Hey everyone!
I got Emergency transferred today! There's 3 more weeks in the
Transfer so it came as a surprise! I'm going to the Spanish Branch in
Topeka! I'm so excited because I haven't served in a Spanish branch my
whole mission. I really need to practice my Spanish! :) Someone is
going home due to medical problems so I had to go in her place and my
companion gets to go in a trio. Sister Pritchett and I remembered
saying at the beginning of he transfer that I wanted to be in a
Spanish branch and she wanted to be in a trio. So we pretty much asked
for it. It's just crazy to see that this happens in life a lot where
Heavenly Father puts us in the right place at the right time. Yes I
will miss Abilene and all the people there... But I'm excited for new
adventures :) in the mission we always talk about loving exactly where
you're at and choosing joy!

We found a miracle family and they are progressing so well. In the
past month they've made so many changes and you can feel the spirit
more in their home. We came by one day when they were watching The
Living Scriptures videos about Nephi. They also are listening to the
Book of Mormon on their phone every day. Hannah (17 year old) and
Davis (13 year old) will be baptized On the 28th and the mom will be
baptized once some legal things get figured out, but if it weren't for
that she would be baptized in a heartbeat!! The dad is already a
member but he's basically investigating too because he grew up going
to different churches after he was baptized.
We've been spending a lot of time with this family and they invited us
to Davis's birthday party! Here's a video of Hannah pie-ing my face!

Being a missionary is so awesome and I love every minute of it! I'm so
grateful for this opportunity. I know the Book of Mormon is the word
of God. There's not a page in the book that doesn't testify of Jesus
Christ. I know this is Christ's church on the earth and that was
restored on the earth through Joseph Smith!
Heavenly Father loves us soon much! He's just waiting to bless us, we
just need to act :)

4/18/16 Bear Necessities and miracles!

Dear Family and friends!
This week has been so amazing!! We've met a lot of interesting
children of God! For some reason we were having a harder time finding
people this week and helping people progress. It was such a neat
experience and testimony of fasting and prayer to see miracles and
find people who are prepared. We ended up finding this girl named
Hannah who is in high school. We had a girl in our young women's come
out with us who wants to serve a mission and we ended up knocking on
this door and it so happened to be one of her friends. It turns out
she already has a Book of Mormon! Also she talked to her friend about
being baptized and changing their lives around the night before we
talked to her. It was just so amazing to see how interested she was in
learning more and how much desire she had to follow Christ! We're
definitely going to teach the whole family and help them all follow
the gospel and be baptized! I know this work is truly God's work and
he leads us every day and miracles happen every day!

I didn't mention this last week, but For P-day a couple of weeks ago
we went rock climbing! Our stake president has a climbing wall in his
basement, it's actually one of the kid's rooms! I was pretty excited
when I heard it was approved by the mission to go climbing! I actually
started climbing in my dress when we first saw it... The next time I
was prepared with pants. They have an automatic belay and it goes up
pretty high like 25 feet. They even have holds on the ceiling! They're
a pretty neat family and they do all sorts of things like beekeeping
and cutting off chickens heads (Sister Manu wanted to do that with
them).

This week is transfer week! I'm staying and my new companion is Sister
Pritchet! I've served in the same area as her before so I'm excited!
And of course at the same time I'm a little sad for Sister Manu to be
leaving. She's been teaching me some Tongans and I should've taken the
opportunity to learn more! Well, I'm technically a Spanish missionary
but you never know when you'll run into a Tongan in Kansas! My last 3
companions have been English speaking and I've been in English Areas
but that's okay, we'll run into a couple of latinos one day!

I love you guys so much! I know how important it is to share your
testimony as much as you can! When you share truths, the spirit will
be there to testify. I know this church is Christ's only true church
and that President Thomas S. Monson is his prophet.  I know the Book
of Mormon is the word of God and should be studied every day. I know
Heavenly Father loves us and answers our prayers and helps us align
our will with his. Jesus Christ is our Savior and as we repent and
turn to him we can be forgiven. I'm so grateful for the ordinances of
the Gospel and how we can truly be forever families in the temple. I'm
so grateful each and every day to be a missionary and share these
things with everyone I see!

Speaking of sharing testimonies... I just wanted to share a funny
experience that happened this week. When we had fast and testimony
meeting there was a fairly new convert who bore their testimony and
talked about the Jungle Book and the song "bear necessities" and how
we don't need all of these things we think we need. We just need the
gospel and our families. And he actually started singing the song...
I thought I was dreaming for a second, but no it actually happened and
there were a couple of kids singing along!

4/4/16 Lots of meetings! Lots of inspiration!

So this week has been so eventful! We had specialized training with all the people from our zone and another zone. We also had Sisters Conference with all of the sisters in the mission (you can see how beautiful all the sisters are in the picture). Then to end the whole week with a spiritual bang, we had general conference!

For sisters conference we had the theme DOTS: depend on the savior. We wore polka dots (well not everyone got the memo:) and we read the book "You Are Special".  You're all probably familiar with the story. But basically these Wimmicks were judged based off of how beautiful they were, how high they jumped and how smart they were. People would put dots on those who weren't the best and they put stars on who they thought deserved it. It's so sad to see how we base our self worth off of what others think of us, or what we think of others. At the conference, we all had people put dots on our faces, but then at the end of the conference we had them all taken off:) We talked about our self worth and how the Savior see's each and every one of us as we really are. We also talked about all the women in the scriptures like Emma Smith, Mary, Hannah, and Ester and how we can emulate them. It was so good to see all the sisters and to see how I've come to know and love every single one of them (well at least try to... because there's about 72 sisters :)

General Conference was just so amazing! Of course I always have my favorites like President Monson, President Uchdorf, and Elder Holland, and my new favorite Elder Stevenson. I loved the message that President Monson gave about how our decisions determine our destiny. We have this wonderful gift of agency and we do truly decide our eternal happiness! And of course if we don't care where we end up, then our choices don't matter (classic Alice in Wonderland). I loved President Uchdorf's talk about how we can have hope and be rebuilt from the ashes. Elder Holland's talk was just a reminder of how we don't have to be perfect but we just need to be trying, and that we can do it :) I loved listening Elder Gary E. Stevensons talk about how critical keys are not only in starting a car (that story sounds familiar) but in Christ's Church. No matter how many times we teach the restoration, I'm always just so passionate that this is truly Christ's church because it has the proper priesthood authority! :)

I love you all so much! I'm so grateful for your prayers and support. I know that our Savior lives and loves us. Our Heavenly Father has a plan for each and every one of us. We are truly made to be glorious! :)

3/28/16 Easter Egg Hunt

Dear Familia,
Women's conference was so amazing! I loved how centered it was on
service! I loved how it talked about how we can communicate to people
without looking in a mirror but through a window. I also loved how it
talked about our circle of influence. We gave such a great impact on
everyone around us. We can make such a difference!

This week we saw many miracles and found so many people looking for
the truth! I truly know this is Christ's work. He leads us to the
people we need to bring to the gospel! I know this isn't only true for
full-time missionaries but for member missionaries! Well actually
member missionaries are the full-time missionaries because we will
only be around for 18 months-2 years at a time! :)

I loved sacrament meeting yesterday. I was reminded so much more of
Christ's sacrifice for me. Someone in sacrament mentioned how Christ
remembers everyone of us by looking at his hands, the prints of the
nails. What if we were to remember Christ each time we looked at our
own hands?

3 Nephi 11
14 "Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into
my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands
and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the
God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.
15 And it came to pass that the multitude went forth, and thrust their
hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands
and in his feet; and this they did do, going forth one by one until
they had all gone forth, and did see with their eyes and did feel with
their hands, and did know of a surety and did bear record, that it was
he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come."

Each of us can come one by one to personally know Christ.
If we only treated each day as an Easter egg hunt. Try to look for all
the tender mercies God has given you!

3/21/16 Happy Easter!

Dear Familia!
Life is so good! It's a great day to be a missionary every day! This
past week a lot happened! We had a zone conference and it was almost
the most spiritual experience I had! Sister Bell (the mission
presidents wife) talked about having joy verses happiness. She talked
a lot about how we can find joy in the journey. Wherever we're at in
life we can have true joy!! She even talked about their trip to the
Virgin Islands. It was supposed to be their dream vacation (nothing
compared to our vacations) but they ended having to sleep in these
tents with Geckos crawling everywhere. Sister Bell and some of their
kids were not too up to the idea of having these creatures crawling on
them at night although a President Bell and the other kids wanted to
stay. Anyway there was a lot more to the story but they ended up
sleeping somewhere else. But that was what they remembered about that
trip was the things that went wrong. I know that we can find joy in
the little things. We can have joy even when everything seems to be
falling apart. I thought it was really refreshing to hear about this
in zone conference. And of course we were trained on how to be
challenging and testifying missionaries at the conference!
So we met this guy the other day and his homeless friend. His friend
named Critter was traveling from California to Kansas and he passed
through Utah and received a Book of Mormon. He read some of the book
but wasn't too interested so he gave it to his friend. Well rewind a
week ago, a recent convert told us to go see this guy because he just
moved in. I was on splits with that recent convert while my companion
was resting after she got her tooth removed. And we ran into him
outside. She remembered him from middle school (small town problems)!
The first thing he said was that he was looking for a church and
particularly wanted it to be in Salina! Well this is quite the
opposite reaction we get from people because people in Abilene usually
don't want to drive 30 mins to get to church! So that was really a
miracle! He's living with his girlfriend and has a 6 month old. He
wants a church that is centered on families! It was just so awesome.
How many times does someone receive a Book of Mormon from a homeless
person and wants to come to church before the've heard about the
church? I know Heavenly Father is in the details of our lives. I know
Christ lives and loves us. I know this church is the only church with
the true authority from Christ!

2/22/16 Baptism and Birthdays are the best!

So Edwin got baptized!! It was such a neat experience! Also it was
sister Jensen's birthday so Belinda (Edwin's mom) surprised her with
cake! I'm so excited for the rest of Edwin's family to soon join him
and then in a year get sealed in the temple! I know our Savior loves
us and I know that baptism is so essential in Gods plan and we can
truly access the atonement of Jesus Christ flyer we've made that
covenant!

3/14/16 Yay baptism!

Becca got baptized!!!! I'm so grateful for my Heavenly Father and how
much he's in the details of our lives! I'm so grateful to be a
missionary and to help bring souls unto Christ! It's so great to be
serving here in Abilene, Kansas!

3/7/16 Welcome to Abilene

Hey family!
I was transferred this week to Abilene, this little town near Salina!
It's great! :) I'm companions with Sister Manu (aka Sister Beast in
English) she came straight from Tonga! She has only been in America
for a couple of months! It is always an adventure with her! Heavenly
Father really wants me to learn from Tongans or something because this
is my 2nd Poly companion. I think it's their loving nature and
passion! So this week we have a baptism coming up for Becca Miller!
The sister met her at the Library a couple of weeks ago! We're so
excited for her!

2/15/16 Tacos!

This week was so amazing! It's been a bit hectic trying to figure out
legal stuff for a couple to get married. I'm so glad I'm just a
missionary and not a lawyer! Anyway they may not be married for a
couple months, but in the mean time they are all going to church as a
family and their son Edwin will be baptized soon! The mom started
investigating the church about a year ago. She was exploring all sorts
of churches but then she noticed that something was missing, she then
started to go back to the "Mormon" church. She knew that once she
started going back that this truly was Christ's church. We met her
when we saw her at church. We thought she was a member! She's doing
everything she can, going to all the ward activities, reading
scriptures, asking Heavenly Father questions and receiving revelation.
Her Fiancé wasn't too interested until about a couple of weeks ago.
He's going to scouts with Edwin and is almost more involved than the
members. Honestly we don't know what changed with Chris. He wouldn't
even be in the room for the lessons and now he came to church twice.
Probably because he sees how much his 6 and 8 year old love it. Edwin
used to love this one church that had rock walls, trampolines, and
DJ's and all that fun stuff! I don't blame him, I probably would too
at that age or maybe even now if I wasn't born into the church. But
now Edwin is loving the LDS church even more! I truly know that this
is Christ's Church. It has been restored by a prophet Joseph Smith. I
know that we may seem "happy" at other churches or other places but we
can have true joy and eternal happiness only as we live the Gospel of
Jesus Christ.

We went to a meeting in Junction city with Elder Evans who was a
director in the missionary department. It was so neat to talk about
how we can be better missionaries. There was a worldwide broadcast for
all the missionaries 3 weeks ago. This rarely happens... The last time
that happened was about a decade ago. So it must have been really
important. We talked to Elder Evans about this conference and what
stood out. The title of the converts was "Teach Repentance, Baptize
converts" because apparently throughout the world the retention rate
for those being baptized is not very good. So Elder Evans asked us why
it's so hard to tell people to "repent!" So we got rebuked pretty hard
by the spirit and not only are we trying to repent but to really teach
our investigators to repent so they are converted (or changed) before
baptism. Anyway a Elder Evans was inspired. He even told us to be
exactly obedient to be safe and not to do stupid things like take out
our carbon monoxide detector when it starts beeping. And so it started
beeping last night and we weren't sure if it was because of the
battery. Anyway we were told to go to the Spanish sisters apartment.
When we got back to our house we had someone check it. It turns out
the battery needed to be changed! Anyway better safe than sorry! This
is Sister Jensen and I at Qdoba! It's so good, best tacos ever!
